Ansar Ud Deen Secondary School (AUDSS) Overview
Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School (A.U.D.S.S) was established in 1980 by the Lateef Jakande administration during the 2nd Republic to provide an affordable yet competitive alternative to secondary education in Lagos State. Located at 73 Randle Avenue, opposite Randle Health Center in Surulere, Lagos, the school shares its compound with Ansarudeen Grammar School. A.U.D.S.S has since become a leading provider of formal secondary education, particularly in Surulere and more broadly in Lagos State.
The school is a pioneer in adopting the 6-3-3-4 system of education, which was first implemented by the graduating class of 1991. Prior to this, A.U.D.S.S followed a five-year system that concluded with the class of 1989. After completing the initial six years of primary education, the school admits top-performing students from selected primary schools across the Surulere Local Government Area.
Academic and Vocational Excellence
At the junior level, A.U.D.S.S places a strong emphasis on developing young students into budding professionals and skilled artisans. Over three years, students engage in a carefully curated curriculum that includes Mathematics, English, Business Studies, Commerce, Introductory Technology, Technical Drawing, Carpentry, and more. After this foundational period, students advance to the senior level, where they are allowed to choose specialized career paths and are exposed to a broader range of courses in the arts, sciences, and commerce.
Preparation for Higher Education
A.U.D.S.S offers an extensive preparatory program for higher education, supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers from various disciplines. Students benefit from a rigorous academic curriculum complemented by hands-on, equipment-specific training in modern, state-of-the-art laboratories and training centers. This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of higher education and professional careers.
Values and Legacy
The school's motto, "Knowledge is Service," encapsulates its identity and mission. A.U.D.S.S places great importance on instilling strong ethical and moral values in its students, alongside academic excellence. This holistic education model has consistently produced future professionals, leaders, clerics, industry captains, investors, entrepreneurs, business moguls, traders, and skilled artisans, all of whom contribute to the distinguished legacy of A.U.D.S.S.
